The index below provides quick access to condensed descriptions of segments of the project. Each segment represents a concept that is usable for the creation of a more sustainable urban environment. The concepts are interrelated through their interdependency of the primary components that make up the physical urban fabric: water, soil, air, energy, constructions and infrastructure. Although many, many subjects could be investigated, it’s these often complex relationships that determined which subjects held potential for profound interdisciplinary research by the complementary institutes. This website therefor offers experiences and advice on a limited, but for the purpose of interdisciplinary research, carefully selected pool of subjects.

The research was conducted using cases within the Dutch cities Utrecht, Amsterdam, Almere, Duiven and Rotterdam. Information about these cases and detailed descriptions of the studies are offered in the background reports that can be downloaded using the links on the webpages.
